This Thursday!

med LThis Thursday October 2nd, the Bergren Forum is hosting Laurel Jay Carpenter. She will be talking about her travels and new visual art performance works over the past 2 years–including her year-long sabbatical from Alfred University. She works alone and in collaboration with Terese Longva (who is an AU BFA alum), and visited: Italy, Norway, Poland, Germany and Norway. It’s held in Nevins Theatre in Powell Campus Center from 12:10-1pm… and there is
free coffee!

data.anatomy [civic] is a new audiovisual installation by the acclaimed Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda, arising from a unique collaboration with Mitsuru Kariya, the development leader of the new Honda Civic.

Exhibited as a 3-screen video projection, data.anatomy [civic] immerses viewers in an intricate yet vast audiovisual composition derived from the entire data set of the car.

And remember: the paper you bought will be divided into 3 different drawing surfaces. One long strip at the bottom which will be 7″x30″ and is to be folded into an accordian book with 6 pages – 5″ each.  The remainder of the paper will be divided in two, making 2 equal-sized pieces at 15″x15″ square.  These are the pieces you will do your two drawings on.  The collages are to be done on 10″x10′ paper. Please have these completed by THURSDAY and have begun your drawings and book. They are due on FRIDAY of next week.

An Important Reminder!

Today is the last date to drop a course without receiving a “W” on your transcript! To drop, see one of your advisers. As freshman you have THREE advisers: Michelle Illuminato, Kat Riesing and Angie To. Michelle is on campus on Monday/Tuesdays and Kat and Angie are available on Thursday/Fridays. All three are on campus on Wednesdays. Here’s hoping that your schedule is PERFECT this semester!
